Boombox Theory – All 45s Vinyl DJ Set

with No Comments
Boombox Theory is the exclusive mixtape offering a taste of John Type’s upcoming DJ sets, performed entirely on 45s vinyl records from a collection that hails straight from the boombox era – the iconic portable stereo, also known as the “ghetto blaster,” which was widely popular in early ’80s urban landscapes.

This period, also known as the Post-Disco era, marks a turning point in music history, with a historical peak in 1983, when acoustic instruments merged with synthesizers and drum machines, giving birth to the sound of Electro Funk and Boogie.

Listen now to a 33-minute mix of this distinctive sound and watch the live recording on YouTube. The audio is also available on SoundCloud, Mixcloud and for Free Download.
